The car doesn't have a tracker device fitted as far as i know but i am attempting to contact the previous owner to confirm this, as it has been suggested to me that this could be a reason the the problems i'm experiencing. The car's battery is only 6 months old and is the correct one for the car and has been retested and been found to be in good condition.

The Audio system (travelpilot EX), CD changer, Bluetooth have been disengaged at various times but this has had no effect and the LCD more often than not will remain illuminated. They also sent the car to a Ford main dealer who again checked the car over and they could not find any problems. The garage have checked the car over and ran various diagnostic tests but have not found any problems. Unfortunately, having the cluster replaced at the cost of £750.00 of my hard earned did not solve the problem as 9 times out of 10 the LCD display is still illuminated after 45 minutes of locking the car. My garage therefore recommended that the whole instrument cluster be replaced as they were 99.9% certain that this was the cause of the problem. The instrument cluster was removed and tested and found to be "damaged beyond repair". The fault was traced to the fact that the LCD dashboard display was staying illuminated sometimes and thereby draining the battery over night.
